As wound care products become more specialized, dressing design is no longer limited to a standard square or rectangular format.
At Wuhan Hangu Technology, we have been seeing this change directly through product development and customer projects. Buyers are asking more questions about where a dressing will be used, how it needs to fit around the body, and whether a standard shape is really the best choice for that application.
In response to these changing needs, we have continued to expand our silicone foam dressing range with more shapes, structures and product options for wound care brands and distributors.
The goal is straightforward: give customers more choices when building or extending their wound care product lines.
Why Dressing Shape Matters
A square foam dressing works well for many general applications, but wounds do not always appear on flat and easy-to-cover areas.
The heel is a good example.
A flat dressing placed around a curved area may require additional adjustment during application. For this reason, heel-shaped foam dressings are designed differently from standard rectangular products, allowing the dressing to better follow the contour of the area.
The same thinking applies to other specialized designs.
Tracheostomy-style dressings, for example, include an opening and slit structure rather than a conventional closed shape. Butterfly and other contoured designs provide additional options where standard square formats may not be the most convenient choice.
This is one reason we believe shape should be considered as part of product development rather than simply as a visual difference.

From Standard Formats to Specialty Shapes
Our current foam dressing portfolio includes a broad selection of formats.
Alongside conventional square, rectangular and strip-style foam dressings, our existing product range includes:
We also work with different appearance options, including white, pink, skin-tone and brown variations depending on the product structure and project.
What is important here is not simply having more shapes in a catalogue.
For buyers developing a wound care range, these different formats make it possible to organize products around different applications rather than selling the same basic dressing in several dimensions.
A Growing Range of Size Options
Size variety is another area we have continued to develop.
Our existing products cover small dressings starting around 5 × 5 cm, as well as medium and larger formats such as 7.5 × 7.5 cm, 10 × 10 cm, 10 × 20 cm, 15 × 15 cm and 20 × 20 cm.
Larger and specialty formats are also available within our current product portfolio.
However, we do not recommend choosing a dressing simply because a particular size already exists.
When discussing a new project, we normally look at the intended application, overall dressing dimensions, absorbent area and product construction together. Two dressings with similar outer dimensions can still be quite different products if their absorbent areas or structures are different.
This becomes particularly important when a customer is developing several SKUs for one wound care line.
Building a More Complete Wound Care Portfolio
For brands and distributors, adding more products does not necessarily mean adding more value.
What matters is whether each product has a clear place within the range.
A basic portfolio might begin with several standard square foam dressings. Later, the brand may add larger sizes, non-bordered products or specialty shapes to cover different customer requirements.
This is the direction we are seeing in many product discussions.
Instead of asking for one foam dressing, customers increasingly want to understand how several formats can work together as one product family.
From a manufacturing perspective, this also changes the conversation. We are no longer discussing only dimensions. We may need to consider the dressing structure, silicone contact layer, absorbent area, backing film, release liner and final presentation at the same time.
That makes early product planning much more important.
Product Development Based on Real Requirements
One thing we try not to do is recommend a complicated product simply because we can manufacture it.
Sometimes a standard square dressing is still the right solution.
In other cases, changing the shape or structure can make the product more suitable for its intended application.
For a new project, our team usually starts by looking at the customer's existing specification or target product. If the customer already has a sample, drawing or size requirement, that gives us a useful starting point.
If not, existing products can be reviewed first before deciding whether a new shape or specification is necessary.
This approach also helps reduce unnecessary tooling and development work during the early stages of a project.

Continuing to Develop Our Wound Care Range
The expansion of our silicone foam dressing range is part of Wuhan Hangu Technology's continued development in medical and wound care patch products.
Rather than focusing on one standard product, we are gradually building a broader range that gives medical brands, distributors and private label customers more options when planning their own wound care portfolios.
Our current silicone foam dressing range already covers multiple shapes, dimensions, colors and product structures, and we will continue to develop new configurations based on practical customer requirements.
For buyers who want to understand the product itself in more detail—including dressing structure, absorbency, silicone adhesion, manufacturing considerations and OEM options—we have also prepared a separate technical guide on silicone foam dressing manufacturing.
If you are developing a wound care product line and would like to review existing silicone foam dressing options, samples or available shapes, you can contact our team to discuss your project.
